The beginning is the best place to start this blog and is the best place to start the process of your getting Social Security Disability. And the beginning is applying.
If you have a condition that you will keep you from working for 12 months or more, I recommend that you apply as soon as you're disabled and, if your application is denied, that you appeal. I've had a number of folks tell me that they were advised to just reapply when they were denied. I can tell you from experience that reapplying will probably get you no where. Your best bet is to contact an attorney experienced with Social Security Disability as soon as you're denied and have that attorney appeal the decision that denied you benefits.
You can apply for Social Security Disability by using the online application or by calling 1-800-772-1213 and setting up an appointment to file a claim at your local office.
In short, if you're disabled from working, apply for Social Security Disability and, if you're denied, contact an attorney as soon as possible.

Eric
